Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. 90 miles north of Las Vegas... lies this! A beautiful contrast to the hot paved roads of the Strip and surrounding city. We thought maybe we'd camp there when Mum suggested it as an option for our Fourth of July picnic celebration, but I couldn't get it together in time and didn't know if it would be full of fellow campers, so it wound up a day trip.
We left North-town around nine in the morning and rode with the p's for under two hours before choosing Site 5 as our base. It was definitely the best spot on the lake. I had no idea this place was here. Not very many people do apparently... We had a big tree, picnic bench, and even a barbecue. Mum brought Patriotic Popcorn , some kind of lime flavored beer, Newcastle for the boys, an Italian pasta salad, chips & salsa, carrots, Scotch C's, & chocolate chip bar deliciousnesses! It was relaxing and a great spot to have a look around.
We had visits from many dragonflies, a lizard, and what we think may have been a Coachwhip snake? As it turns out he wasn't a venomous, deadly predator, but rather just after the lizard...
And being worried about the area being above capacity, silliness. Actually, what is silly is that we didn't have to worry - where were you?!
Lastly, I cannot, despite my best efforts get a grasp on how to format these blogs... If you have any direction for me, it would be much appreciated. In the interim, save judgment, please...
Great blog but spelling is Pahrangat. Thx for including the nice photo of moi. Fun day! hugs Mum

While I'm certainly no Typepad expert, feel free to shoot me any questions you have on formatting. It's so confusing at first, then you'll get used to it. my email is [email protected]
